Run...Gustav is coming!!

Hurricane Gustav is headed straight for my house according to the center of this cone. So all hands are on deck to prepare for a major hurricane. I'm just so glad we went on the cruise last week and not next week...speaking of cruise, pictures will be posted ASAP (unless Gustav doesn't let me!).

Have I told you lately...

My husband is so wonderful. He really is. Of course there are times when I probably think the exact opposite but I just seem to forget all the small things he does for me. Yesterday when I got into my car after work I had a little purple sheet of paper on my driver side seat. It simply said, "Hope you have a great day. I love you!" Awww, it brought tears to my eyes. Well actually it made me cry. Something so small and simple means so much to me. It was the time it took him to get to my car and put the note in there and not to mention that he even thought of that on his own! He's great!! And this got me thinking of some small things I can do for him to let him know I'm thinking about him. He doesn't like or want flowers so thats out of the questions. Anyone have any good ideas?

And did I mention how excited I am about going on a cruise in only 4 days! Woo hoo. I can't wait. We're going to have a blast. I should have a HUGE post full of pictures when we return next Saturday.

Crystal Beach

We went to Crystal Beach, TX last weekend for a fun vacation with 11 of our friends. We stayed in a 2 bedroom beach house and squeezed in 13 people. Needless to say we had a blast. Here are a few pictures from the weekend.

We had a blast the entire weekend. We went Kemah, TX the first night and the went to Schlitterbahn on Friday. We went out on The Stand in Galveston on Friday night. The ferry ride was horrible. It took atleast 1 hour just to get onto the ferry every time we rode it. We relaxed on the beach all day Saturday and Saturday night we went for a walk on the beach. Before we even made it out of the yard MJ fell down 7 steps and busted up his foot (atleast it wasn't Tommy getting hurt this time)! As we were walking on the beach we saw some fireworks going off. Apparently it is legal to pop fireworks on the beach. We it just so happen that this time the fireworks caught a yard on fire and almost caught a beach house on fire. It was pretty bad but luckily the local volunteer fire department made it on time and was able to save the house. The pier and fence caught on fire though.

We had a blast with everyone and now we're getting excited for our cruise in a few weeks.

103.7 degree fever is never good

Tommy hasn't been feeling well since Monday and we checked his temperature Wednesday morning and it was 101. So he stayed home from work and went to the doctor around lunch time. He wasn't showing any other symptoms except he had a little back pain. So the doctor did some blood work and gave him an antibotic and said the results from the blood would be in later in the week.
We'll Wednesday afternoon he was laying in bed shaking because he was so cold, so I checked his temperature and it was 103.7!! So I freaked out and rushed him to the ER. 2 hours later his temperature was down to 101.5 and all the doctor at the ER could tell us was that he could run a urine sample and take a chest X-ray but that Tommy should just take tylenol. So Tommy got fed up and decided to leave the hospital. So here we are at home just taking tylenol and not knowing whats wrong. The doctor just called and said the blood work just came back and everything looked normal. So we have no clue why his body temperature is so high. I hope he gets better soon. Keep him in your prayers.

Toledo Bend

We went to Toledo Bend July 11-13 for the annual Dupre vacation and we had a blast. We go every year with my grandparents and aunts and uncles and we always have a great time. Its about 30-40 people all sleeping in one HUGE lodge. We fish, water ski, tube, ride jet skis, etc. This year we decided to bring our dog, Cajun. He's a year old chocolate lab. We bought a wireless electric fence and collar and he did so well. He stayed near everyone and he didn't jump on the kids or eat anything that was left outside. He was a very good dog.

My uncle Matt and cousin Chris had a secret agent mission on the Saturday night. They did a mass massacre of wasp that were nested above the back door. Uncle Matt has this bug zapper that looks like a miniature tennis racket so they were swinging at wasp for a few hours. It was hiliarous, especially when Chris got stung on his stomach because he wouldn't leave the wasp alone. I took a bunch of pictures that i need to download to my computer so I can post them.

We're having a surprise 60th birthday party of Tommy's dad this Sunday. It should be alot of fun. Tommy and a few other fireman are cooking jambalaya, I did a slideshow of a bunch of pictures of Tommy's dad, and Tommy's mom is decorating the hall. She said there should be about 70 people coming.

And next weekend we're going to Crystal Beach. We're going to Schlitterbahn in Galveston one day which I am very excited about. I love rollercoasters and water slides so that should be blast. We have 13 people coming and we're staying in a house that only sleeps 11 -- should be interesting. I'll definately take alot of pictures that weekend. Vacations, vacations...I love the summer time!

Working out

I joined a gym last week and started going to aerobics. I want to lose a few pounds and I really like group exercise so I figured this would be the best for me. I went Tuesday and twice on Thursday (yes TWICE). So needless to say I was sore. Well then Tommy and I decided to go to Tunica Falls on Friday and went hiking for about 5 hours. We hiked about 3 or 4 miles UP HILL!! I was hurting. Here is a pic of one of the waterfall.

So hopefully I can continue with the aerobics. I hope to go at least 3 times a week.

Birthday weekend

My birthday was last Saturday, June 28th and I had a really great weekend. Tommy had to work Friday during the day and all day Sunday. But Friday night we went play putt putt golf (which we did on our first date) and then we went to Sonic (which we did on our first date)! So we sort of recreated our first date together. It was really fun. Saturday we cut grass in the pouring the rain and had a crawfish boil with our family and friends. It was alot of fun. Tommy gave me some landscape lighting for our front yard. Hopefully we can put it up this week. My mom gave me a decorative planter, a rolling ice chest, and something else that she has to wait for my dad to give to me. My dad and my sister didn't come to the crawfish boil. My sister had a softball tournament in Baton Rouge that weekend and her games ran late so they stayed in Baton Rouge from 9:30 saturday morning until midnight. I was pretty bummed that they couldn't come.

This weekend should be alot of fun also. Tommy and I are going to Tunica Falls to go hiking and see waterfalls. Then we're going to spend the night in Baton Rouge and go to Bass Pro, Cabela's, and maybe the outlet mall. It should be alot of fun. If it rains on Friday we may end up going to New Orleans instead of Tunica Falls. Either way it will be fun. And then next weekend is Toledo Bend!! I'm so excited. We go to Toledo Bend every year with the Dupre family and it's always so much fun. We have about 30-40 people staying in one huge lodge and people sleeping everywhere...it always makes for a good time. I'll post updates (with pictures of course) of our traveling adventures.
